In this session we will dive deep into what triggers guilt for you, and find ways to cultivate compassion and forgiveness
If you experience difficulty with having to be in control, unwillingness to let go, are too focused on past mistakes, afraid to repeat the same mistakes, unable to set boundaries, unable to say no to other people’s requests, lack confidence to be assertive, trying to be perfect, always seeking external approval, or suffer from debilitating self-doubt or self-criticism, this session is for you.
Living with guilt can be very painful for yourself, as well as those closest to you. It is most common to experience guilt when you are around close friends, family members, your parents, siblings, and your children if you are a parent. Other people’s demands and expectations may fall on you, and you don’t know how to say no, so you take on everything. Another common experience is the feeling that no matter what you try do to be the best partner, parent, friend, etc. it is just never enough…
You may find yourself walking on egg shells just to avoid confrontation, and you always feel like you are giving more, doing more, and this builds up to resentment. A major component of working past feelings of guilt is to be able to cultivate and allow space for self-forgiveness and for forgiving others. Compassion, kindness, and patience is a part of this process, and I will guide you in ways that you can begin to follow this process.
During this session we will also cover healthy ways to express the anger behind your guilt, so that you may be better able to open to forgiveness. Oftentimes anger and the fear of being punished is what fuels guilt and makes it hard to move past it.
I will share a simple practice with you that immediately takes you out of your self-critical guilt-ridden mind, into a more calming and centered place. From this place it is easier to make decisions, set boundaries, say no when you need to, and build your assertiveness muscles.
It is possible to live a healthy and happy life without constant feelings of guilt holding you back.
